4 out of 10 will bring up Martin Luther King Jr.
3 out of 10 will bring up Malcolm X.
2 out of 10 will bring up Harriet Tubman.
1 out of 10 will bring up Rosa Parks.
This is fair enough. But ask these same people to name somebody not named Martin, Malcolm, Harriet, or Rosa and the answers will most likely follow like so:
9 out of 10 will bring up "that guy who invented peanut butter" [George Washington Carver]
1 out of 10 will bring up some other person.
For some reason, I feel that there is more to black history than peanut butter and people you learn about in your second grade elementary school class.
