Resolutions

Dollar and Sense

Thank you for all the people who are giving me positive or negative feedback, as any feedback is helpful. I just got published in the school paper, which is great news. I am also starting to create a strip that hopefully will run five days a week on a regular basis.

State of the Union

You know this is sad, but most likely true... myself included. Although, I did try to watch some of the speech, and some of the post speech talk, I just could not get myself interested enough in watching the actual speech in its entirety despite my supposed interest in politics. There is just too much hoopla around the one speech, as cable news already knows what will be said, what should be said, and what will not be said in the speech well in advance of the actual speech. The most enjoyment comes from seeing which members of Congress are trying to doze off, and which members get frustrated from having to alternate between sitting and standing so many times.

"I Love New York" however, is a thrill and laugh a minute if not second. The fact that we all know it's garbage, and bottom of the barrel reality television and still watch it is great. It knows not to take itself too seriously, which is something that politics can learn but chooses not to. I am not saying that politics is as simple as a "Bachelor" ripoff, but I am saying that there is a certain charm to being amused by absolutely nothing.

Priceless...

Ever since I have been in college, I have been bombarded by credit card companies trying to lure me with long sleeved t-shirts, blankets, regular t-shirts, water bottles, low APRs, no annual fees, etc... It's the hustler's mentality, get people hooked early, and let them pay later. Credit if not treated correctly is crack. In a culture of instant gratification, it's hard not to fall victim to the perils of credit. Click to enlarge.

This is Our Country

If you have watched any sporting event, or any television in the last few months, you have probably encountered what I personally deem to be one of the most annoying commercials of all time. The advertising campaign I am referring to is the "Our Country" campaign that Chevrolet is running. Not only is the John Mellencamp instantly stuck in your head when you watch these commercials, but maybe it's just me, but, "Our Country," is not only made up of white males.

The Chevrolet Silverado is probably a great truck and has its merits, but at some point bigger will not be better. It is one thing to cherish the glory of the past, but it is another thing to ignore the issues of the future. I wish the American auto industry well, but for now I reserve my right to press the mute button.

y oh why?

Since I receive a decent amount of enjoyment from drawing, I've decided to start cartooning. This is my first cartoon ever so please don't drink the "Hatorade" and enjoy. I was inspired by a friend of mine's Facebook quote.
