Criticism of my Comic

The Michigan Daily's public editor wrote a column about my cartoon stating people's problems with it. Normally I would be offended that people don't like something that I do. But, in this instance, I am very ecstatic that people are not only reading the comic but taking the time to consider its merits whether positive or negative. I suggest you take a look at some of my comics as well and decide for yourself whether it's the "worst strip ever penned," or as I would suggest, "gangster."

Here is the article from the Daily.

What is funny?

SalesGenie.com

Having had a good night's sleep to digest Super Bowl XLII and the New York Giant's monumental upset of the New England Patriots, it is not the image of Eli Manning throwing up his arms in the air in celebration that resonates with me today, but rather a quite unfortunate advertisement by SalesGenie.com. I normally don't root against companies, but for a company that I've never really heard of; I am actively rooting against you.

This advertisement involved animated pandas, which are indeed indigenous to Asia. This advertisement also plays on Asians stereotypes in a very non Saturday Night Live way, which is to say, the commercial was pretty offensive. I mean I usually don't get rattled by things that are politically incorrect, but this was pretty blatant and pretty ridiculous seeing as the Super Bowl is the most viewed event of the year in America. I am all for pandas and freedom of speech, but this is pretty racist and it is unfortunate that I have to pull out the race card post one of the best games I have ever seen.

Let's play a game of compare and contrast:

These are pandas shown in their true form:

Bless you.

These are pandas shown in a horribly misguided commercial:

Actually this one doesn't involve pandas, but it does have a gross stereotype of an Indian man and was also aired during the Super Bowl:

Come on SalesGenie.com. Lunar New Year is this Thursday!
